Who is Paul Bulmahn?
T. Paul Bulmahn is the Founder and presently is the Chairman and President of ATP Oil & Gas Corporation (NASDAQ: ATPG), an international offshore oil and gas development and production company. I n addition to managing and directing the publicly traded oil and gas company active in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea, Mr. Bulmahn also is the Founder of GoldMark Farm LLC, a North American thoroughbred training facility. He has established himself in two diverse industries as a premier value creator, successfully utilizing ingenuity and innovation to form industry-leading enterprises. As an entrepreneur, working in three different countries: U.S., U.K. and the Netherlands, Mr. Bulmahn has in total started seven successful businesses.
ATP Oil & Gas Corporation, with offices in Houston, London, and Ijmuiden, Netherlands, has earned a reputation for superior company performance with a historic 98% success rate developing offshore properties for commercial production. In 2000 ATP achieved a ranking of #5 on the Inc. 500, the 5th fastest growing company in America, with a five-year growth rate of 8,127%. After Mr. Bulmahn took ATP public in 2001, its share price performance has outstripped an array of prominent indexes including pork belly futures, gold futures, U.S. Treasury Bond Yield and the S&P 500Index. ATP has accepted a number of significant awards, including: Offshore Energy Achievement Award for Innovation/Technology (2004), Inc./Cisco 2000 Growing with Technology Award, Best Field Improvement Project (1999), and Mr. Bulmahn was selected Entrepreneur of the Year in Energy by Ernst and Young in 2000.
GoldMark Farm, a 470 acre training facility for thoroughbreds in Ocala, Florida, was established by Mr. Bulmahn in 2002. O f particular note is the fact that with a three-quarter-mile training track built with SafeTrack (comprised of recycled auto tire rubber, wax and sand) it is one of very few training facilities in the world featuring an innovative surface exceptionally kind to the fragile legs of developing thoroughbreds. GoldMark is also rapidly earning a solid reputation for the sound training methods employed by its head trainer, Todd Quast, who personally trained 3 Kentucky Derby winners: Grindstone, Charismatic and Thunder Gulch, for his previous employer, D. Wayne Lukas.
Mr. Bulmahn is an author of several periodical articles, including “Driving Your Investment Dollars with New Energy” World Energy, Vol. 5, No. 1, 2002 and “Offshore Presents Unique Challenges” The American Oil & Gas Reporter, June, 2001. I n February, 2005 Mr. Bulmahn was the featured Keynote Speaker for the oil and gas industry Energy Forum in Houston Texas. Mr. Bulmahn also served as an industry advocate for the symposium “Energy Careers in Crisis?
Recruiting Tomorrow’s Energy Generation” sponsored in 2003 by University of Houston and the Global Energy Management Institute. He has served as chairman of the
Houston Bar Association’s oil, gas and mineral law section, and has chaired industry seminars on such topics as marginal offshore field development, oil and gas law and e-business technology. Prior to forming ATP Mr. Bulmahn was President and Chairman of Harbert Oil & Gas Corporation. Earlier in his career he represented Tenneco in Washington D.C. and was an administrative law judge for the Railroad Commission of Texas
Philanthropically Mr. Bulmahn has generously given of his time and talents, as early as 1987 serving as chairman of the highly successful Braes Interfaith Ministries fund drive in Houston, Texas. H e has encouraged the development of entrepreneurs, particularly at his alma maters, by frequently
sharing his thoughts and strategies with interested students. Mr. Bulmahn was elected to the Board of Directors of Valparaiso University in October, 2004. H e served for three years as a member of the College of Business Administration Advisory Board of Texas State University. Mr. Bulmahn earned a B. A. from Valparaiso University; J. D. from University of Texas School of Law; and an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business, Texas State University, which in 2000 named him a Distinguished Alumnus.
