Refreshed and ready for a return to action, Mylute could be sitting on a big effort in Saturday’s $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga. The Grade 2 event at 1 1/8 miles is the traditional local prep for the $1 million Travers Stakes on Aug. 24, and has drawn one of the toughest fields of recent years.

Saratoga: Mylute tries to upend Palace Malice in Jim Dandy

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Going into the Belmont Stakes, Palace Malice was the hard-luck horse, winless in five starts as a 3-year-old, encountering trouble and bad luck at almost every turn. Everything finally clicked in the Belmont as Palace Malice came home a decisive 3 1/4-length winner for Dogwood Stable and trainer Todd Pletcher.

Mylute works for Jim Dandy Stakes

Mylute, third in the Preakness Stakes, put in a half-mile workout Saturday at Saratoga and will start in the $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes next Saturday.

Ridden by Rosie Napravnik, Mylute went the four furlongs in 52.23 seconds.

“It was an easy half-mile,” Amoss said.
