Fair Grounds: Risen Star has solid local contenders

NEW ORLEANS – The last three Risen Star Stakes winners shipped from Florida, and the pipeline is still open. Normandy Invasion, from trainer Chad Brown, and Palace Malice, from Todd Pletcher, could wind up the top two betting choices in this year’s Risen Star on Saturday.

Tom Amoss pointing Mylute to the Grade II Risen Star Stakes

Mylute is a bit of a conundrum for trainer Tom Amoss. The colt’s pedigree says sprinter, but his build says he’s a stayer. Sometimes his morning workouts look fine. Others are a head scratcher, such as the 51.00 four-furlong breeze he put in Friday.
